Attack on Hijra Community in Sherpur

40 hijras were attacked by miscreants in their government-provided housing in Sherpur, Bangladesh.
– The hijras fled their homes and sought refuge on the balcony of the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
– The community staged a hunger strike and human chain protest on Thursday afternoon.
– The attack occurred in the Chak-Andharia area of Roha Union, Sherpur Sadar Upazila.
– Miscreants vandalized and looted the hijras’ homes and physically assaulted them.
– The hijras filed a police complaint and submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner.
– Acting Deputy Commissioner Monirul Hasan assured them of legal assistance and asked them to file a case.
– The army and police inspected the shelter project and promised to take action.
– The hijra community demands a fair trial against the perpetrators and seeks protection and security from future attacks.
