A 67-year-old woman was allegedly raped in Debhata upazila, Satkhira, around 11 pm.
– The victim, whose husband passed away, lives alone as her children are married or live elsewhere.
– The perpetrator, reportedly the father of a groom, visited the victim’s house under the guise of inquiring about a marriage proposal.
– He grabbed the victim and raped her; she screamed, alerting neighbors Ruhul Amin and Abdul Majeed.
– The accused fled; the victim was initially taken to Debhata Health Complex and later transferred to Sadar Hospital due to worsening condition.
– Doctor Soma Rani Das stated the victim requires urgent surgery to stop bleeding and recommended transfer to Satkhira Medical College Hospital.
– Police Inspector Idrisur Rahman confirmed a verbal complaint; the victim provided a statement, but a written complaint hasn’t been filed due to family preoccupation with treatment.
– Authorities are attempting to apprehend the accused.
