Domestic Worker Abused Again

Dinat Jahan Adar was granted a one-day remand for allegedly torturing 13-year-old domestic worker Kalpana in Dhaka’s Bhatara area.

Kalpana started working at Dinat’s house in 2021 with a monthly salary of Tk 10,000, but was allegedly not allowed to contact her mother, Afia Begum.
Afia Begum filed a case on October 19, stating that Dinat physically and brutally tortured Kalpana, causing severe injuries.
Police rescued Kalpana and arrested Dinat Jahan.
The investigating officer applied for a five-day remand, but the court granted only one day.
The accused’s lawyer filed a bail application, which was opposed by the state.
Kalpana suffered severe rotten smelly wounds on different parts of her body due to the alleged torture.
Dinat allegedly whipped Kalpana’s face, hands, feet, back, and other parts of her body and threw fire at her.
