Khagrachari Hill District Council has been restructured with Jiruna Tripura as chairman, the first woman to hold the position.
- The 10th Interim Parishad includes 14 members from various ethnic groups.
- This is the first time new faces are seen in the assembly outside of political appointments.
- The council oversees overall development and 33 government departments.
- Jiruna Tripura leads the council, replacing the outgoing Interim Council.
- The restructuring was announced in a notification signed by Taslima Begum, Senior Assistant Secretary, Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs.
- The council was formed under the Khagrachari Hill District Council Act, 1989, and its amendments.
- The first and only election of Khagrachari Hill District Council was held in 1989.
