Nusrat Tabassum, a 23-year-old political science student at Dhaka University, played a pivotal role in Bangladesh’s 2024 July Revolution. Hailing from Khulna, Nusrat’s activism began with the 2018 Road Safety Movement. She became a key coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Students Movement in July 2024, leading protests against the reinstated government job quota system.

Despite being detained and coerced into withdrawing protest programs, Nusrat remained committed to democratic reforms. Her leadership helped mobilize nationwide demonstrations, contributing to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s resignation on August 5, 2024, and the formation of an interim government including student leaders like Nusrat. She continues to advocate for systemic changes, ensuring fair representation and governance in Bangladesh.
