A viral Facebook post claims the Bangla book for first-graders by the National Curriculum and Textbook Board is “inappropriate” for children, as it contains, according to him, deviant materials.
-The post describes the children depicted in the book in highly derogatory and vulgar terms, such as having short dresses, the drawing of their legs, and the neck and face of an adolescent woman.
-He claims the book is an attempt to destroy the minds of young children to “go into office work,” “wreck the home of their husband,” and “play football showing their legs.”
-The post even contains implicit transphobia, as he also claims that the children reading this book would want to be transgender.
-Although the post doesn’t make it explicit that it is about women’s education and empowerment, by calling them gender-neutral terms “children,” the undertone clearly illustrates that he is specifically concerned about women’s participation in school and the workforce.
