A 15-year-old girl, Ranu Begum, was stabbed to death by her father, Abdus Rashid, in Ghanashyampur village, Habiganj.

• The father allegedly killed his daughter due to her mobile phone addiction, which he had failed to control despite repeated attempts.
• On Wednesday, Abdus Rashid found his daughter talking on the phone and, after telling her to stop, became enraged when she continued the conversation.
• He attacked and stabbed her with a sharp weapon in their yard, leaving her dead.
• The police detained Abdus Rashid and his wife, Saheda Begum, and sent the victim’s body for post-mortem.
• This incident is not isolated, as there have been similar cases, such as a Bengaluru man who beat his 14-year-old son to death over mobile addiction and lack of focus on studies.
