A 22-year-old housewife was gang-raped by a group of men on a trawler in Munshiganj’s Louhajang upazila.
- The perpetrators, who included Yamin Munshi, Jamal Molla, and Jabbar Sheikh, offered to take the woman home on the trawler, but instead took her to a secluded area and raped her.
- The woman filed a written complaint with Padma Bridge (North) police station, and a case was registered against four people, including Abu Bakar Siddique, who is still at large.
- Police arrested three of the accused, Yamin, Jamal, and Jabbar, on Tuesday and Wednesday.
- The three arrested individuals confessed to the crime and gave statements under Section 164.
- They were produced before the Munshiganj court and ordered to be sent to jail.
- Police have seized evidence and conducted a medical examination of the victim, and are continuing to investigate the case.
- A drive is underway to arrest the remaining accused, Abu Bakar Siddique.
