On 21st February 2025, an 11-year-old schoolgirl in Rangpur’s Mithapukur upazila was allegedly raped while collecting flowers for Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day.
- The incident occurred in Mirzapur union, where the accused, Ruhul Amin, forcibly took her to his home.
- The victim, a fourth-grade student, escaped and informed her family, who then filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
- The accused, Ruhul Amin, from an influential family, allegedly threatened the victim’s family not to report the incident.
- The victim’s family also reported that the accused’s family tried to prevent the child from receiving urgent medical attention.
- Police have collected evidence and sent the girl to a victim support center, but the accused has not been arrested yet.
