Housewife Seema Akhter Hacked to Death in Keraniganj

A 40-year-old housewife, Seema Akhter, was hacked to death with a sharp weapon in Keraniganj, Dhaka, on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.

Local residents beat up a young man, Imam Hossain, 25, and handed him over to the police on suspicion of involvement in the murder.
The incident occurred on the ground floor of a six-story rented house in Ambagicha Boubazar area of South Keraniganj around 6 pm.
Seema Akhter was the daughter of Jalil Bepari of Barakandi village in Madaripur Sadar upazila, and her husband Akhter Hossain is a fruit trader.
The couple lived with their two sons and a daughter in Aganagar Ambagicha Boubazar area of Keraniganj.
Imam Hossain, the suspect, is a resident of Shashibhushan area of Char Fashion upazila of Bhola.
Police believe the murder may have been committed due to an extramarital affair, and an investigation is underway.
Seema Akhter’s husband, Akhtar Hossain, wants justice for his wife’s killer.
The police have arrested Imam Hossain and are investigating the incident.
