A case has been filed against five people, including a police sub-inspector (SI), for demanding Tk 3 million from a female lawyer, Mukta Parveen.

– The incident occurred in April 2024, when Mukta Parveen was arrested and granted a three-day remand.

– SI Mahfuzur Rahman allegedly tortured Mukta Parveen physically and mentally during the remand period.

Four others, including Sheikh Abdullah, Zahid ul Alam, Roman Islam, and Md. Salam, were also accused of being present in the remand room without legal right.

– Mukta Parveen had previously filed a case in January alleging attempted rape, molestation, and extortion against the same accused.

– The accused claim Mukta Parveen and her associates are involved in fraud cases, extorting money from people by promising jobs.

– The judge has ordered the police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to investigate the case.
