An eight-year-old child from Magura was allegedly raped while visiting her sister’s house in Magura town.
– The child was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in a critical condition on Thursday, March 7, and is still unconscious.
– Doctors stated that the child will be kept under observation for the next 24 hours.
– The child’s family members reported that she had visited her sister’s house a few days prior to the incident.
– On Thursday, March 7, around 11:30 am, the child’s sister’s mother-in-law brought her to the Magura 250-bed hospital in an unconscious state.
– Initial examinations revealed marks on the child’s neck, scratches on several parts of her body, and bleeding from her genitals.
– Magura Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ayub Ali stated that it is initially believed that the child was raped.
– The child’s family has not yet filed a written complaint with the police station.
– The police have taken the child’s brother-in-law and father-in-law into custody for questioning. An investigation is underway.
– Protests erupted in Magura Sadar on Friday, March 8, after prayers, with students and the public demanding justice for the accused.
– The protesters blocked the highway and surrounded the police station, demanding that the accused be handed over to them. The army arrived and dispersed the protesters.
