Army, police burst into arbitration meeting, arrest accused in Comilla child rape case

In a surprising turn of events, members of the army and police suddenly arrived at an arbitration meeting in Comilla’s Lalmai Upazila, where a case of child rape was being discussed.

– The meeting, held on March 8, was organized by village elders to resolve the case of a 7-year-old child who was allegedly raped by a 70-year-old man, Abad Ullah.

– The child’s mother had discovered the abuse on March 7 and filed a case against Abad Ullah at Lalmai Police Station on March 8.

During the arbitration meeting, Abad Ullah was fined Tk 50,000 for the rape, but before the meeting could conclude, the army and police arrived and arrested Abad Ullah after hearing the child’s description of the rape.

– The child has been sent to Comilla Medical College Hospital for examination, and Abad Ullah was sent to the Comilla court on March 8.

– The police have confirmed that Abad Ullah has been arrested and a case has been filed against him.
