On Friday, March 7, 2025, a local youth, Sanjay, allegedly attacked and injured Mizanur Rahman (55), the father of a college-going girl he had been harassing, in Kabirhat Upazila of Noakhali.
– The incident occurred at 10 pm in Mirzanagar village of Ward No. 5 of Narottampur Union.
– Mizanur Rahman suffered severe head injuries from a sharp weapon and was first admitted to the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital and later transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
– The accused youth, Sanjay, has been in hiding since the incident.
– According to Mizanur Rahman’s brother, Md. Farid, Sanjay had been harassing Mizanur Rahman’s daughter, and despite warnings, continued to do so.
– When Mizanur Rahman protested against the harassment, Sanjay attacked him and his brother with a Chinese axe, injuring them both.
– A neighbor who tried to intervene was also hit by Sanjay.
– Md. Farid stated that he was busy with his brother’s treatment and had not yet filed a complaint with the police station, but planned to do so with the help of a lawyer.
– Kabirhat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Shahin Mia said that no complaint had been received, but legal action would be taken after investigation if a complaint is filed.
