A 16-year-old Indigenous girl with intellectual disability from the Kheyang community was allegedly raped in the Khamtam Para area of Rowangchhari Upazila.
– The accused, Jamal Hossain, 32, was arrested by workers engaged in road work and handed over to the locals.
– The victim went out for a walk on Monday afternoon but didn’t return home, prompting a search by locals.
– The girl was found in the forest after neighbors heard her screams, and she was rescued and brought home.
– Based on the girl’s account, locals confirmed that a construction worker had raped her.
– A search party couldn’t find the accused that night, but he was caught by workers the next morning and handed over to the police.
– The accused was beaten up by locals, who also put a chain of shoes around his neck and paraded him around the neighborhood.
– The girl’s brother filed a rape case with the Rowangchhari Police Station.
– Rowangchhari Police Station OC Ashikur Rahman confirmed that the accused was handed over to the police, and a case was filed.
