“I know this is not a solution, but they are not letting me live. Believe me, I wanted to live… This is not suicide; this is murder. Technically, murder.” These were the last words Fairuz Sadaf Abantika (24) posted on Facebook before taking her own life.
On March 15, 2024, law student Fairuz Sadaf Abantika (24) died by suicide in her Cumilla home after relentless harassment and institutional neglect. Before her death, she posted:
“This is not suicide; this is murder. Technically, murder.”
Her mother filed a case against Raihan Siddique Amman, a classmate who harassed her for rejecting his advances, and Din Islam, a university assistant proctor who verbally abused her when she sought help. Both were arrested—but soon released, using political influence.
Despite protests, no charge sheet has been filed, and no action has been taken. Jagannath University confirmed Amman’s involvement but refuses to act. One year later, the accused walk free, while Abantika is gone.
Justice Delayed is Justice Denied
-Where is the accountability?
-Why is the investigation stalled?
-Why is harassment still tolerated?
If we stay silent, we are complicit. One year has passed, but we will not forget. Justice for Abantika—NOW.
