Tanu murder case: 6 investigation officers in 9 years, justice still pending

Sohagi Jahan Tonu, a 19-year-old student and theater activist, was found dead in a bush near the power house of the Comilla Cantonment on March 20, 2016.

– Her father filed a murder case against unknown accused at the Comilla Kotwali Model Police Station.

– The investigation agency has changed four times and the investigation officer has changed six times over the past 9 years.

– The latest investigation officer, Md. Tariqul Islam, visited the crime scene with a PBI team and spoke to Tonu’s family members, promising to investigate the case seriously.

– Tonu’s family is frustrated with the lack of progress in the investigation, despite multiple changes in investigation officers.

– The CID found sperm from three men on Tonu’s clothes in 2017, but no arrests have been made.

– The case has been handed over to the PBI, and the investigation is ongoing.
