Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh has demanded the immediate cancellation of the Women Affairs Reform Commission, claiming its proposals are anti-Islamic and offensive to religious sentiments. At a press conference following an executive committee meeting in Dhaka on Sunday, Joint Secretary General Maulana Mamunul Haque condemned the Commission’s recent proposals, particularly those critiquing Islamic inheritance and family laws, as “Islamophobic” and “against the Quran and Sunnah.” The group also called for the removal of the ‘pluralism’ clause from the Constitution Reform Commission’s draft and the reinstatement of “faith and trust in Allah” in the constitution.
