Bangladesh Feminist Archives wishes you a Happy International Workers’ Day! As the cliché goes, workers are the builders of civilization. However, the current neoliberal capitalist order acknowledges this truth while denying workers their due value, suppressing their wages and voices, and neglecting workplace safety in many countries. Female and gender-diverse workers face additional challenges, from unpaid labor to underprivileged workplaces. Amidst this crisis, we celebrate May 1st, International Workers’ Day. Let the working class unite against all odds and reclaim this day from the neoliberal regime, which offers only vague platitudes and virtue signaling without changing the material reality. This day was born out of rebellion, not conformism, and affirms self-determination, not complacency. Let’s return to the roots of May Day and unite against exploitation.
