On Friday, May 16, 2025, around 2 a.m., a pregnant woman was gang-raped during an armed robbery at a farmhouse in Satkhira Sadar.
-Four assailants entered the house with machetes (ramda), tied up her husband—an employee at the farm—at gunpoint, and looted 37,000 taka in wages, gold jewelry, and farm tools.
-The woman, who is five months pregnant, was taken to the kitchen and raped. She has been admitted to the hospital for treatment.
-The couple, originally from Dumuria upazila of Khulna, work and live on the farm, earning a monthly salary of 15,000 taka.
-The survivor identified three of the suspects as local men: Monirul Islam, Delwar Hossain, and Ashraful Islam.
-Police officials, including the Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Shahinur Chowdhury, visited the scene. Authorities have pledged action, but as of Saturday afternoon, no written complaint had been filed.
