We are proud to present Episode 11 of the Bangladesh Feminist Oral History Project, an initiative by the Bangladesh Feminist Archives dedicated to preserving and amplifying the voices of Bangladeshi feminists across generations.

In this episode, we sit down with Dr. Dina M. Siddiqi, a feminist anthropologist, writer, and educator whose work spans labor rights, gender justice, transnational feminism, and critiques of development and nationalism in Bangladesh.

Dr. Siddiqi is currently a Clinical Professor at New York University. Over the past three decades, she has worked across universities, grassroots movements, and international forums, producing scholarship and activism that critically examine the garment industry, NGO-ization, state violence, and feminist knowledge production. Her work is deeply grounded in Bangladesh yet has shaped transnational feminist discourse globally.

Topics Discussed:
-Dina’s feminist and political formation across Bangladesh and the diaspora
-Garment workers, labor politics, and the contradictions of empowerment discourse
-Development, global capital, and the politics of representation
-The intersections of Islam, nationalism, and gender in South Asia
-Navigating feminist work within and beyond institutions
-Building memory, solidarity, and feminist futures in uncertain times

About the Project:
