Police have arrested a man named Anu Mia (35) for allegedly strangling his wife, Sabina Begum (30), and dumping her body in a pond near Baglabazar in Golapganj, Sylhet. The incident took place on Wednesday, after the couple was last seen together traveling toward Sabina’s parental home.
Locals discovered Sabina’s body floating in a pond around 4 PM and alerted the police. Officers recovered the body and found injury marks on her neck, suggesting she was strangled. Police believe a long-standing marital conflict may have led to the murder.
Later that night, police arrested Anu Mia from his home. A murder case has been filed, naming him as the sole accused. The body was sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
