Two third-year sociology students of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Shanto Adnan and Swagat Das (Perth), have been arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a fellow student and filming the incident. The assault reportedly took place in early May in a nearby mess while the victim was unconscious.
After the student filed a written complaint with the university proctor, the administration informed police and handed over the accused. A case has been filed under the Women and Child Abuse Act and the Pornography Control Act. University officials and classmates have strongly condemned the incident, with peers announcing a social boycott and demanding maximum punishment.
