On June 20, 2025, members of the Bangladesh Army reportedly sexually assaulted two indigenous Tripura women during a raid in Muktajan Tripura Para, a village in Tongkabati Union of Bandarban Sadar. The raid was led by Major Md. Manjur Morshed, Deputy Commander of Alikadam Army Zone. According to local sources, the two women, aged 32 and 38, were groped and assaulted inside their homes around 4 a.m.
In the same raid, three pregnant Tripura women were forced to stand outside in the rain for an extended period, amounting to torture. On that day, the army also detained nine Chakma and Tripura men from nearby villages and later handed them over to police under what locals claim are false charges. The incident has sparked outrage among human rights groups and Indigenous activists, who are demanding an independent investigation.
