A 25-year-old Hindu woman was allegedly raped by Md Fazor Ali, 36, a neighbor, in Ramchandrapur Panchkitta village under Muradnagar upazila of Cumilla. According to the case statement, the incident occurred on Thursday night when the woman’s family members were attending a local fair. Fazor Ali allegedly entered the house, raped her at knifepoint, and threatened to kill her if she disclosed the incident.
Locals reportedly rushed to the scene when the woman began screaming and beat up Fazor Ali, who later fled despite being injured. A video of the incident was recorded and circulated online.
The Cumilla police have arrested Fazor Ali in connection with the rape case. Four others, identified as Sumon, Romzan, Md Arif, and Md Anik, have been detained for recording and sharing a video of the incident.
A case has been filed under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, 2000, at Muradnagar Police Station. Cumilla Superintendent of Police Nazir Ahmed Khan confirmed the developments and assured that legal action would be taken against the accused under relevant laws.
