A woman was gang-raped in Panchagarh on the night of July 4. According to her statement, she had traveled from Jemjut Area of Boda Upazila to Panchagarh to visit the hospital as her 1.5-year-old son was suffering from diarrhea. She took a three-wheeler to Tinmail, but the driver told her to get off. Six men then abducted her and took her to a nearby tea field, where they raped her. They threatened her child’s life, rendering her unable to resist. She identified four of her attackers.
The victim’s elder brother stated that he went to the hospital after being informed by the police around 1:30 PM. At that time, the victim was unconscious. Dr. Abdul Kashem, resident doctor at Panchagarh Modern City Hospital, confirmed that the police brought an unconscious woman to the hospital around 1:30 PM, showing signs of physical torture. The victim is now stable, and the hospital is gathering evidence.
The victim filed a case at Panchagarh City Police Station, and four individuals – Johnny Islam (27), Biplob Hossain (25), Maksedul Islam (33), and Sadekul Islam (28) – have been arrested in connection with the crime.
