A 14-year-old Tripura girl was allegedly gang-raped in Khagrachari. According to the victim’s statement, the incident occurred on June 27, 2025. Due to social stigma and fear, the victim didn’t inform her family initially. Later, she attempted to commit suicide on July 12, 2025, due to mental trauma, and was rescued and hospitalized. There, her family learned about the incident and decided to file a case.

After the case was filed, four men were arrested: Arman Hossain (32), Emon Hossain (25), Enayet Hossain (35), and Saddam Hossain (32). They were affiliated with the local BNP unit at Bhaibonchara Union. Two other accused individuals, Md. Munir Islam (29) and Md. Sohel Islam (23), are still at large.

The president of Bhaibonchara BNP Union, Bacchu Mia, claimed the six were previously affiliated with them but were verbally terminated on August 5 due to alleged connections to Awami League activists. However, local citizens and some party activists dispute this, saying they continued to participate in BNP events after the alleged termination. Protests are ongoing in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, with reports of army intervention in some areas.
