She reports months of pressure from local leaders since the August 5 unrest and a prior vandalism five months ago. “I am also a citizen of this country… Why can’t I get justice?” she told Stream.
Pari says she repeatedly called Uttara West Police Station for help, “We are being attacked. Please send forces,” but officers arrived two–three hours later. She alleges OC Abdur Rahim Molla threatened her (“You talk less. Why do we have to send forces with you?”) and that, even after police came, market committee members confronted her again. The OC could not be reached for comment. A market committee member, Moti, initially stated that “illegal shops” had been removed and declined to address the harassment allegation.
