Vice-presidential candidate Sheikh Tasnim Afroz Imi of the left-wing Resistance Council panel accused right-wing student groups of exploiting women and minority students in the run-up to the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) elections. Speaking at a rally near the Raju memorial on Sunday evening (September 7), she said female students and Jagannath Hall residents were being treated “like goats decorated with garlands before slaughter,” adding that right-wing parties were using women’s issues only for political gain.

Imi criticized opponents for focusing on women’s bodies rather than their rights, citing incidents where protesters against Razakar portraits were subjected to harassment. “We are tested and proven on the streets,” she told students, “no one can fight for you like us.”

Assistant General Secretary (AGS) candidate Jabir Ahmed Jubel echoed her remarks, warning of a conspiracy to push radical right-wing forces onto the campus. He said the Resistance Council had resisted authoritarianism in the past and would continue to fight against extremism and communalism. “Just as there will be no place for fascism in Bangladesh, there will be no place for Razakars or extremists,” Jubel said, adding that students would stand united against threats both at home and abroad.
