In Bhola’s Borhanuddin upazila, a woman was publicly humiliated after being accused of adultery. Her hair was cut off and a garland of shoes was placed around her neck in the Notun Bazar area of Ward No. 5, Manika Union. Police have since arrested four people in connection with the incident.
According to the victim’s mother, a group of men broke into their home late on Saturday night (September 6) after she refused to open the door. They accused her daughter and a local man, Iddik Majhi, of adultery and took them to a nearby market. The following morning, some women dragged her to Notun Bazar, where locals, including Jalil, Nurannabi, Bashir, and Ward No. 5 BNP leader Md. Kabir, forced the humiliation. The family has demanded justice and punishment for those responsible.
After a video of the incident went viral on social media, police arrested four men, Abdur Rashid, Ismail, Medehi Hasan, and Md. Siraj. Borhanuddin Police Station OC Md. Siddiqur Rahman confirmed the arrests, adding that a case had been filed and efforts are underway to detain others involved.
