“The political is personal.”
Bangladesh’s gender and sexuality stories have too often been erased, distorted, or filtered through academic gatekeeping and institutional control. Political & Personal is a living archive curated by the Bangladesh Feminist Archives (BFA) that insists on another path, where voices speak for themselves, where memory and desire resist erasure.
This weekly series brings together essays, reflections, fragments, and experiments in form. Some are intimate, some are confrontational, some are tender, and some are raw, but all insist that personal narratives are political strategies. Writing here is not only self-expression but also feminist resistance, a refusal to be silenced.
Each week, a new piece is added to this page, building a collective record of gender and sexuality in Bangladesh; messy, complex, and unapologetically personal.

About the Series
Political & Personal is not bound by academic convention or polished structures. Instead, it holds space for truth-telling in many forms: essays, memories, diary entries, fragments, and experimental writing. The shared thread is the insistence that our voices matter and that the archive must reflect lived realities, not institutional narratives.
This page is a growing digital home for those contributions. In 2027, these published works, along with new submissions, will be compiled into a print anthology titled: Political & Personal: An Anthology of Gender & Sexuality Issues in Bangladesh
