In Gazipur’s Sreepur upazila, a 24-year-old female theatre worker was allegedly gang-raped after being lured to a resort under the pretext of shooting a play. The survivor filed a case with Sreepur Police Station on Thursday night, accusing two men—Md. Nasir (35) and Md. Babar (32)—along with an unidentified accomplice.
According to the case statement, the woman, who works as a model, was picked up from Mirpur, Dhaka, on the night of September 21 and taken to a resort in Uttar Pelaid village of Telihati union. Believing that Nasir was a director and Babar his associate, she accompanied them. Around 2 a.m., the three accused allegedly locked her in a room and raped her in turn. The following afternoon, she was beaten, thrown out of the resort, and her iPhone—worth Tk 240,000—was taken away.
Attempts to contact the resort authorities went unanswered. Sreepur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Abdul Barik confirmed that a case has been registered based on the survivor’s complaint. He said that a drive is underway to arrest the accused and the process of medical examination of the victim is ongoing.
