In Kalkini upazila of Madaripur, a housewife was brutally beaten by a murder-case accused currently out on bail, sparking outrage after a 14-second video of the assault went viral on social media Thursday night. The video shows Faisal Talukder, son of Bajlu Talukder of Kalai Sardarerchar village, striking the woman repeatedly with a stick before attacking her with a ramda.
According to police and locals, the incident took place on the evening of September 22 when Faisal stormed into the woman’s home and assaulted her. The victim, a widow living alone with her only child, has reportedly faced ongoing harassment from Faisal since his release on bail in a controversial three-murder case last year. Locals allege that his intimidation has escalated under the current political climate, leaving residents too afraid to speak out. One community member said the attack would have been silenced if not for the video evidence, adding, “We want to be saved from this torture. Faisal and his forces should be given exemplary punishment.”
Faisal was named an accused in the December 27, 2024 killings of Akhtar Sikder, his son Maruf Sikder, and Siraj Chowkidar in Banshgari Union, a violent clash rooted in local dominance struggles. Police from Khaserhat Investigation Center visited the scene after the assault, though the housewife has not filed a case due to fear. Kalkini Police Station OC Sohel Rana confirmed that Faisal is already wanted for displaying illegal weapons, assuring that he will be arrested soon. Authorities have urged the victim to come forward, promising full legal support.
