At least seven workers were injured in a fire that broke out on Sunday morning, October 12, 2025, at a factory recycling old batteries into lead in the Panchdona area of Narsingdi Sadar Upazila.
According to police and local sources, the fire erupted while work was in progress, burning seven workers. Locals rescued them and took them to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital.
Three victims — Mozammel Hossain (19), Hossain Ali (24), and Taijul Islam (25) — suffered critical burns ranging from 50% to 70% and were transferred to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka for advanced treatment. The remaining four — Shoaib (18), Shahanur (21), Sumon (22), and Jewel (20) — were discharged after receiving primary care.
Hospital officials confirmed the severity of the injuries, while the factory authorities remain unreachable following the incident. Narsingdi Model Police Station OC Mohammad Emdadul Haque stated that both police and fire service teams inspected the site and that a legal investigation is underway.
