Police have recovered the body of 54-year-old Milan Akhter from under the bed of her home in the Race Course area of Comilla city on Friday evening. Officers from Kotwali Model Police Station responded after family members discovered blood on the floor and reported the incident.
According to police and family sources, Milan had been living alone for the past few days after her mother left for Noakhali for treatment. Divorced about 15 years ago, she had three daughters—one residing in Europe, another in Noakhali, and the third, Tanjina Akhter, living in a nearby rented house. Concerned after being unable to reach her mother by phone, Tanjina visited the home Friday evening and found her mother’s body under the bed.
Family members suspect foul play, saying a knife was found at the scene. “I spoke to my aunt yesterday morning. Now she’s gone. Her body was under the bed—this is clearly a murder,” said Milan’s nephew, Md. Masud.
Kotwali Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohinul Islam confirmed the recovery of the body and said initial evidence points to murder. The body has been sent to Comilla Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, and further investigation is underway.
