A Jubo Dal leader from Birampur, Dinajpur, has been accused of attempting to rape a 35-year-old woman who recently returned from abroad. The survivor filed a written complaint at Birampur Police Station on Tuesday afternoon.

The accused, Raju Ahmed, son of Shahjahan Ali of Purbapara Mohalla and joint convener of Birampur Municipality Jubo Dal, allegedly entered the woman’s home while she was alone and tried to assault her. When she screamed, he fled the scene. The woman, who divorced her husband a decade ago and had been working in Saudi Arabia before returning home, stated that Raju had been harassing her for nearly four years. A previous complaint had been settled through local arbitration after he apologized.

Birampur Municipality Jubo Dal convener Taslim Uddin Mandal said, “If the allegation against Raju Ahmed is proven, he will be expelled for violating organizational discipline.”

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Momtazul Haque of Birampur Police Station confirmed the complaint and said police have visited the scene. “If the allegation is found to be true, legal action will be taken,” he added.
