The body of a 12-year-old madrasa boy student named Moinul was recovered from a haor in Baniachong upazila of Habiganj on Wednesday afternoon, a day after he went missing.

According to police and local sources, Moinul, a student of a local madrasa, had been missing since Tuesday afternoon. His body was later found in the Doakhani Mohalla area of South-Eastern Union No. 3. What has made the case particularly unsettling is that the boy’s body was discovered wearing women’s clothing, raising suspicion among locals and authorities alike.

Baniachong Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mizanur Rahman confirmed the recovery, stating, “Initially, it appears someone changed Moinul’s clothes after killing him.” He added that the body has been sent to Habiganj Sadar Modern Hospital for autopsy and that the matter is being treated as highly sensitive.

Local residents have expressed alarm, speculating that it could be a premeditated murder. Police say an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of death and identify those involved.
