Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Women’s Division Secretary Principal Nurunnisa Siddika has issued a statement alleging that leaders and activists of the party’s women’s wing have faced harassment and disruption while conducting campaign-related and religious outreach programs in different parts of the country. The statement, released on Wednesday, condemned the incidents and called for administrative intervention.

According to the press release, an event described as a Quran talim (Quran teaching session) was being held on Tuesday at a home in Sonaimuri, Noakhali, when several individuals—identified as members of the local Swechchhasebak Dal unit—intervened, questioned the gathering, and allegedly vandalized chairs, disrupting the program. A video of the altercation has since circulated on social media.

The release further claims that similar disruptions occurred during Jamaat women’s courtyard meetings in Naogaon Sadar, Feni Sadar, and Noakhali earlier in October. Jamaat leaders say these incidents reflect escalating attempts to prevent their women’s wing from participating in political or community activities.

Jamaat’s statement frames the interference as a violation of democratic rights, arguing that women organizers are facing targeted intimidation and obstruction. The party called on the administration to ensure safety and freedom of assembly, and also urged the BNP leadership to address the actions of local activists alleged to be involved.

While the allegations have circulated widely, there has been no independent verification of the incidents beyond social media footage. Local authorities have not yet released statements clarifying the situations. The developments come at a time when political activities and public gatherings across the country remain tense and closely scrutinized.
