At a gathering in Mirpur, Dhaka, on November 10, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said that if elected to form the government, women would be allowed to work five hours while receiving pay for eight hours. The remarks were made at an event organized by the Dr. Shafiqur Rahman Supporters Mirpur-Kafrul Zone in the Dhaka-15 constituency.

Dr. Rahman said that under this plan, employers would pay for five hours, and the government would pay for the remaining three hours. He added that a policy for women’s employment would be introduced to ensure “safety at work.”

He stated that women who do housework would be honored as ‘Ratnagarbha mothers,’ while those working full-time for eight hours would also be honored. He said his party intended to recognize and value women’s labor both inside and outside the home.

The Jamaat Ameer also said that if his party formed the government, he would personally visit communities to solve citizens’ problems and focus on improving education and social reform through religious and moral guidance.
