Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) Vice President Abu Sadiq Kayem has filed a case at Shahbagh Police Station alleging coordinated online propaganda, harassment and cyberbullying targeting female student leaders. He submitted the complaint on Monday afternoon, accompanied by several DUCSU members. The case names multiple Facebook pages and IDs accused of spreading defamatory content, abusive language and manipulated visuals.

According to Sadiq Kayem, both before and after the DUCSU election, elected women representatives and female activists have faced repeated “slut-shaming,” derogatory attacks and misinformation campaigns from real and fake accounts. He said links to the pages and profiles responsible were submitted in writing. Pages named in the case include DUCSU Kanthaswar, Bangograph, Amar DUCSU, The Nationalist Data, Kantherkella, Roumari and BangaInsiders, along with three personal IDs: Enamul Haque Shanto, Ashikur Rahman and Saif Al Mahmud.

The written complaint lists 15 Facebook pages for defamatory remarks targeting the DUCSU VP himself and an additional 14 pages accused of spreading abusive commentary and smear campaigns against female students. Kayem said he had earlier discussed the issue with the Cyber Support Unit, as well as the Home Affairs Advisor and the DMP Commissioner, before formally filing the case.

Shahbagh Police Station Officer-in-Charge Khalid Mansur confirmed receiving the case and said the police have begun verifying the pages and IDs mentioned. He added that efforts are underway to identify and arrest those involved in the cyberbullying and dissemination of defamatory material.
