Police have recovered the bodies of two women—one in Kushtia’s Bheramara upazila and another in Narail’s Kalia upazila—under circumstances authorities say point to murder. The bodies were found on Thursday (December 4) in separate incidents.
In Bheramara, Kushtia, the body of 75-year-old Khairun Nesa was discovered in a pond in Ramchandrapur area of Dharampur union. Her hands, feet, and mouth were tied, and there were wounds on the back of her head. Family members reported her missing since Wednesday night. Locals found her body floating about 200 yards from her home in the afternoon.
Bheramara Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Rakibul Islam said, “This is a murder. An investigation is underway, and the motive will be clear after further inquiry.”
Earlier in the day, police in Kalia, Narail, recovered the body of an unidentified woman from the banks of the Chitra River near the Pirolisthan cemetery in Panchgram union. Fishermen first spotted the body around 11 am. The woman, believed to be between 30 and 35 years old, had her face covered with a muffler.
Kalia Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdullah Al Mamun said, “It appears to be a murder. We are trying to identify the woman. The body has been sent for autopsy, and a UD case has been filed.”
