We are honored to present Episode 19 of the Bangladesh Feminist Oral History Project, an initiative of the Bangladesh Feminist Archives dedicated to documenting the voices, struggles, and legacies of Bangladeshi feminists across generations.

In this episode, we speak with Dr. Meghna Guhathakurta, a senior feminist scholar, educator, and human rights advocate whose work has shaped critical conversations on feminist knowledge, minority rights, conflict, and peace-building in Bangladesh. With decades of engagement across academia, research, and rights-based advocacy, Dr. Meghna has been a central voice in feminist and social justice spaces, particularly in relation to the Chittagong Hill Tracts.

Her journey spans teaching International Relations at the University of Dhaka, leading participatory action research at Research Initiatives, Bangladesh, and engaging national and international human rights processes. From community-rooted research with Indigenous peoples and displaced Rohingya communities to institutional work with the National Human Rights Commission and the Chittagong Hill Tracts Commission, her work foregrounds accountability, ethical responsibility, and the politics of memory.

Topics Discussed:
-Early political and feminist formation
-Teaching feminist and critical perspectives in International Relations
-Participatory action research and community-centered knowledge
-Minority identity, land, and militarization in the Chittagong Hill Tracts
