A factory worker was beaten to death in Bhaluka upazila of Mymensingh on Thursday night after allegations of making derogatory remarks about religion. The incident took place around 9:00 PM on 18 December at the Pioneer Knit Composite factory in the Dubaliapara area. The deceased has been identified as Dipu Chandra Das, a factory worker and son of Rabi Chandra Das from Tarakanda.

According to police and local sources, following the killing, a group of people placed Dipu Chandra Das’s body beside the Dhaka–Mymensingh highway and set it on fire. The act caused traffic to come to a halt on both sides of the highway and created severe tension in the surrounding area.

Abdul Malek, Inspector (Investigation) of Bhaluka Model Police Station, confirmed that the body was burned after the beating and that the situation led to unrest and disruption. Police were deployed to the area to bring the situation under control and manage the growing tension.

The incident has raised serious concerns about mob violence and the use of allegations related to religion to justify lethal attacks. Police said they are continuing efforts to control the situation and investigate the incident.
