A case has been filed over the attack, vandalism, and arson at the central office of Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigoshthi on Topkhana Road in Dhaka, police said. An official of the organisation lodged the case at Shahbagh Police Station on Sunday, December 21, naming unknown assailants.

Confirming the matter, Shahbagh Police Station OC Md. Moniruzzaman told Ajker Patrika that the case was filed in the afternoon regarding the attack on Udichi’s central office. He said the complaint covers allegations of vandalism and arson and that an investigation is underway.

The incident occurred on Friday night, December 20, when the central office of Udichi Shilpigoshthi was attacked, looted, and set on fire. A blaze broke out inside the premises, causing damage to the organisation’s office, according to eyewitnesses and media reports.

The attack on Udichi followed a wave of protests and violence in the capital after news spread of the death of Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, convener of the Inqilab Manch. On Thursday night, protesters vandalised and set fire to the Chhayanaut building, while subsequent attacks targeted cultural and media institutions in Dhaka.
