A woman was killed by her husband in Gazipur, who later called her father to inform him of the killing and asked him to come and take away the body. Police recovered the body on Friday morning, while the accused fled the scene, officials said.

The incident took place at a rented flat on the third floor of Ramiz Ali Villa in the Chandana Chowrasta area of Gazipur city. The deceased was identified as Mastura Akter Suma (28), a garment worker and daughter of Mirajul Islam of the Purba Narail area under Haluaghat Police Station in Mymensingh. Her husband, Jalal Uddin Dulu (30), a resident of Rangpur district, has been absconding since the incident.

According to family members and local residents, Suma returned home from work around 10 pm on Thursday and cooked dinner. Jalal returned home around midnight. Following a dispute between the couple, Jalal allegedly killed his wife at some point during the night. On Friday morning around 7:30 am, he called his father-in-law, confessed to the killing, and asked him to collect the body.

Basan Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Harun Or Rashid said the accused also informed relatives and the landlord before fleeing. Police later broke open the locked room and found Suma’s lifeless body lying on the bed. The body was sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination. Police said efforts are ongoing to arrest the accused.
