Body of Female Officer Recovered in Dhaka; Husband Claims Suicide After Domestic Dispute

The body of a female police officer, Razia Sultana Mim (28), was recovered from a residence in the Dakshinkhan area of the capital on Thursday night. Police said her husband, Rajib Mia, has claimed that she died by suicide following a domestic dispute.

Hospital and police sources said Razia’s body was found at a house in the Kasaibari area of Dakshinkhan. She was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared her dead around midnight. An autopsy was conducted at the Dhaka Medical College morgue on Friday afternoon.

Razia was serving at the Armed Police Battalion (APBN) Headquarters. She was the daughter of Md Nasir Uddin Bachchu of Nayabari village in Ujirpur upazila of Barishal and lived in Dhaka with her only daughter.

Dakshinkhan Police Station Sub-Inspector Palash Ahmed said Razia’s husband, Rajib Mia, is also a police constable, currently posted on the Bhanga Highway in Faridpur. According to Rajib’s statement, an argument took place on Thursday night during which Razia allegedly broke his iPhone. He claimed she had previously damaged another mobile phone, and that she later hanged herself inside the house between 9:20 pm and 9:40 pm.

Police said the body was recovered and sent for post-mortem examination, and the matter is being investigated. No further details were provided regarding the cause of death beyond the husband’s account.
