Sumaiya Sultana, a match official with the Bangladesh Rugby Federation, has accused Nazmus Sakib Shobhon, Managing Director of the federation, of physical harassment during a match. She said the incident left her traumatized and that she received no institutional redress after reporting it.
Sumaiya alleged that Shobhon tried to push her and later pulled a chair away as she was about to sit, causing her to fall in front of teams, managers, coaches, and senior officials. She said she informed federation authorities but no investigation followed.
She stated that although she contacted officials by phone and was assured the matter would be looked into, no inquiry took place. She described the experience as emotionally distressing and said the lack of action has intensified her trauma.
Nazmus Sakib Shobhon denied the allegation, stating that decisions involving Sumaiya were related to disciplinary matters. He also made counter-allegations, claiming attempts were made to contact her without response.
The case has renewed concern over women’s safety and accountability in sports institutions, with calls for an independent investigation into the allegation.
