Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said education for women would be made free up to the Master’s level if his party comes to power. He made the statement on Thursday at an election rally organized by district Jamaat at the ATM field in Naogaon.

Addressing women’s safety, he said women had played a significant role in recent political movements and called for an environment where no one would dare insult women. He said acts of disrespect toward women would not be tolerated and linked women’s dignity to national honor.

Referring to controversy over a post from his X (formerly Twitter) account, he said individuals seeking to destabilize the country had hacked his account and were attacking him. He claimed those responsible had been arrested.

Speaking on local development, the Jamaat Ameer said Naogaon contributes significantly to national food production but remains underdeveloped. He proposed upgrading the city’s main road to four lanes, establishing a standard hospital, creating paddy and fruit research institutes, and building crop storage facilities. He said North Bengal would be developed as a hub for the agricultural industry and also mentioned plans to expand tourism.

He also spoke against corruption, saying funds laundered abroad would be recovered if Jamaat comes to power. He called for training unemployed youth, emphasized equal citizenship beyond religious divisions, and said neglected regions would be prioritized for development. The event was presided over by district Jamaat Ameer Kh. M. Abdur Rakib and attended by party leaders and alliance figures.
