Bangladesh Nationalist Party has promised free education for women up to the postgraduate level if elected in the upcoming national election. Party Chairman Tarique Rahman announced the manifesto at an event at the Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka on Friday.
The education-focused manifesto includes commitments to provide free school uniforms and expand digital access through free Wi-Fi in schools, colleges, libraries, and public learning spaces. The party also pledged to keep private universities tax-free, stating that such institutions play a role in expanding higher education and retaining domestic talent.
To support learning outcomes, the manifesto outlines a “joyful learning” approach from class six onward, emphasizing group work, personal skill development, and social and moral education. It proposes introducing third-language education—such as Arabic, Japanese, Korean, Italian, and Mandarin—at the secondary level to broaden employment and study opportunities.
The party said technical education would be integrated alongside general education at the secondary level to strengthen employability. Plans also include improving school infrastructure, hygienic facilities, and gradually introducing midday meals in remote areas, along with expanding special education services for children with disabilities.
The manifesto further states that free education will be ensured for girls up to the postgraduate level and for boys up to the undergraduate level, alongside expanded scholarship programs. It also mentions establishing adequate common rooms and hygiene product vending machines in institutions to support female students’ health and safety.
