Bangladesh Times, an online news outlet, said its journalists were taken away by army personnel from the organization’s office in the Nikunja area on Saturday night. The claim was shared through a post on the outlet’s verified social media page and later confirmed by Sabbir Ahmed, identified as editorial-in-chief of its opinion section.
According to the account provided, a group of army personnel entered the office around 9:30 PM without explanation and instructed everyone present to accompany them. The outlet stated that its journalists were then taken away in vehicles. It also said the incident was recorded on CCTV cameras. As of late Saturday night, the website remained accessible but had not published new updates after an earlier sports report.
Sabbir Ahmed said the outlet had published a public opinion survey related to the army the previous day and suggested the incident might be linked to that publication. No official statement from the army or authorities was cited in the report.
A social media post from the outlet about the incident drew significant online reaction, with many users expressing concern and demanding clarification. Other media organizations had not widely reported on the matter at the time, and no formal explanation for the alleged detentions had been publicly provided.
